Welcome to Between These Shores Poetry Submissions

Poetry Editor Shiesha McNeil

Shiesha McNeil is an American poet, actress, and painter based in the Washington DC area.  She was chosen as the most recent Poetry Editor of ‘Capella Bi-Annual Poetry Journal’ and ‘Between These Shores Literary & Arts Annual’, from among a number of well established poets, as demonstrating not only talent but her keen ability to recognise those who possess it.

McNeil is a native Washingtonian, who recently relocated back to the area after studying Clinical Community psychology at the University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign. Shiesha enjoys and has successfully competed in poetry slams during her time at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Recently, she has played ‘Lou Bessie’ in ‘The Old Settler’ with The Bowie Community Theatre.  You may find her in her studio, working on a project with her loving dog Domino right beside her, or, in keeping with her love of the outdoors, on a hiking trail.

When reading submissions, Shiesha will be looking for fearless variety of style, structure and delivery. One should ask the question,  ‘Is this a poem to be delivered aloud, or read in the silence of the mind?’

Submissions may be sent during all months except December and January.
